What cookies are
Cookies are small text files placed on your device by the websites you visit. Similar storage mechanisms — localStorage, sessionStorage, and IndexedDB — work the same way. This Notice covers all of them collectively as “cookies”.
What we use
PublicShikayat uses a deliberately small set of cookies. We do not run any marketing, advertising, retargeting, or cross-site tracking cookies — not on the marketing site, not on the citizen submit page, not in the admin panel.
Strictly necessary cookies and storage. These are required for the Service to work and cannot be turned off without breaking core functionality.
| Name | Purpose | Lifetime |
|---|---|---|
ps_token | JWT for the admin panel — keeps an authenticated staff member signed in. | 7 days |
ps_tenant | Slug of the tenant the staff member is operating as. | 7 days |
ps_consent | Records that you have seen this Notice, so we don't show banners repeatedly. | 365 days |
localStorage:filed_grievances | On the citizen submit page, the latest reference numbers you have filed, so they remain accessible to you. | Until you clear your browser data |
Functional preferences. If you switch the language in the submit form (English / हिन्दी / ਪੰਜਾਬੀ) or in the admin panel, we store that preference on your device so we don't ask again on your next visit.
Third-party cookies
We do not embed third-party advertising trackers, social-media share pixels, or analytics services that profile users across sites. The marketing site does not load Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, LinkedIn Insight, or any similar tag.
The only third-party services that the Service interacts with on the server side — Meta's WhatsApp Cloud API, Google Gmail SMTP, and our own MinIO storage — do not place cookies on your device through this website.
How to control cookies
You can clear and block cookies through your browser's settings (typically under Privacy or Site data). On most browsers you can also block storage on a per-site basis.
If you block ps_token or its equivalents, the admin panel will not be able to keep you signed in and you will need to authenticate on every page. The public marketing site, the citizen submit page, and the public audit page continue to work without any cookies set.
Changes to this Notice
We will update this Notice if we add, remove, or change the cookies the Service uses. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page reflects the most recent change.
